Shootin’ The Breeze

The reason I started blogging was to keep in touch with family & friends around the world. Share pictures, recipes, adventures and recommendations with the people I love.

That little group of readers has grown a bit now! But this is a post especially for my dad who I know will be over the moon to see these snaps!

It’s my digital postcard from Dallas to Somerset.

Hey Daddy,

Check out what I did today…

While the other bloggers were relaxing poolside, shopping & enjoying all the glamour Dallas has to offer, I snuck off.

Grabbed a coffee and waited for the boys to swing by and pick me up.

Finally they arrived. Trey’s a local & figured I’d enjoy doing something Texan.

I watched the boys shoot a little first, just to get a few pointers.

Then it was my turn!

I marched up to the plate & took a few tips.

Shouted “PULL!”

And missed.

The recoil was a little more than I’d bargained for, too.

The next time though, I was ready.

I was gunna kill that skeet.

And I did!

It shattered into pieces and so did the one that followed it up there.

I popped out the empties.

Reloaded.

And did it again!

The recoil kept flinging me backwards and my front foot kept flying up into the air. A few of the locals walked by and chuckled about it! But I shot 17 out of 20, and think I could nail those last sneaky suckers next time.

On the way out we stopped by the pistol station. I’ve never even seen a handgun in real life, so was a bit shaky about it.

The ranger set me up with a Beretta and told me how to use it.

I loaded her up.

Took aim with shaking hands (honestly I thought my heart was going to beat right through my chest!) and fired.

I missed the X by half an inch & loved it!

I emptied the magazine before handing over to the boys for a turn.

It was fun!

More fun than I expected actually. I didn’t expect to get such an adrenaline rush from the pistols. I suppose because I’ve only ever seen them as “murder weapons” in movies, and it scared the life out of me.

Having had our fill of heat & dust we headed back to the hotel for a dip.

My hands were still a bit shaky!

So spent a little while snoozing on the cushions.

Before burying myself in prawn cocktail (your fave) & a bucket of guacamolemolemole.

Wish you and Mum were here! Can’t wait to see you. Give Señor Custard a squeeze from me!

Love you to the moon & back xXx

Update: Sorry for not including clothing links! Didn’t think dad would be too interested. Here we go:
