There’s a distinct chill in the air that calls for knitwear and steaming cups of spiced tea.
This morning it rained and rained, Lily and I pulled on our boots and went to the park to find some puddles.
Fall has finally arrived in Los Angeles.
This is our first American Autumn, and I intend to savour every last drop.
This afternoon we decorated the porch true American fashion. Or so I’ve gathered from the movies.
With towers of pumpkins and a little help from my friend…
Pumpkins back home have always been the round, bright orange kind that taste a bit like cardboard but are great fun for turning into lanterns.
A quick trip to Trader Joes (my favourite supermarket, think M&S meets a corner store) provided an abundance of beautifully misshapen, imperfectly perfect pumpkins.
Which we’ve haphazardly piled up either side of the door.
Look out Martha Stewart!
Lily chose all of the decor herself and had very firm ideas on where each one should go.
I can’t imagine where she gets it!
I don’t want to get all mushy on you, this was just supposed to be a quick hello, but this is exactly the sort of thing I always dreamed of doing with my littles…
…and here I am getting ready for Autumn with my kind, generous, funny little girl.
Here’s to many happy returns.
