Weekend Snaps

I hope you had an eggcellent, eggstravigant, eggstra special weekend!

Ok, got that all out of the way!

I didn’t really plan on blogging this Easter… but have a phone full of photos and thought it would be a shame if they were all just forgotten.

So, here’s a bit of a mish-mash of snaps that illustrate the long weekend.

Kicking off with a rather terrifying Easter Custard.

The first thing I do whenever I get home is leap into the big pile of waiting dogs!

Easter morning sailed by in a sea of dippy eggs, hot cross buns & Easter eggs.

Even the fluffballs got stuck into the action (don’t worry it’s dog friendly choc).

Princess Olga chose to unwrap hers herself.

It was Hector’s first Easter, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone look so pleased to be given a gift!

Of course Custard insisted on having his egg unwrapped & slowly nibbled on it.

There’s always one in every family who keeps their chocolate until the very end and makes everyone jealous.

None of us are that restrained, so Custard takes up the slack.

After a veritable chocolate feast, we prepped lunch.

Spring means lamb. Mum got a leg ready, and I took on a crown, choosing to roast it in a salsa verde paste. (Similar to one of my first recipe posts, here.)

Everything went into the Aga and we headed out for a long, wet walk.

Nothing like a drizzly afternoon to christen a new Barbour!

By the time we got home the family had grown again.

We all sat by the fire with champagne & chocolate, celebrating all being together again.

Soon Monty was ready to get stuck into lunch!

So we moved to the table to continue the feast.

The afternoon was spent snoozing, reading books (I downloaded Divergent and couldn’t keep my nose out of it!) and snacking on left overs. The wind rustled the leaves outside and the gentle patter of rain didn’t stop until the following dawn.

Thankfully we were treated to glorious blue skies come Monday, so made the most of them.

A few people asked for some BBQ recipes on Instagram, you can find most of my faves here.

Easter was polished off with a cream tea in the garden.

A weekend full of love, laughter, games & gluttony, leaving some of us a little exhausted!

I’d love to hear what you got up to this year!

Are you a church go-er or do you simply worship at the alter of Cadbury’s?
