Bombay Sapphire Premiere

The lovely chaps at Bombay Sapphire heard on the grapevine that I was heading to New York, so very sweetly invited me to a party.

They were hosting the premiere of 5 short films from 5 different film makers, all based on a script by Academy Award winner, Geoffrey Fletcher.

So with the promise of movies, popcorn & gin… I happily headed over to the Tribeca Film Festival.

And only got a little lost on the way… in a drizzly New York City.

Wearing a Dolce Vita little white dress (free worldwide delivery, hollaaaa!), Mulberry bag, ASOS shoes and a borrowed coat (similar here).

Eventually we found the premiere & fell right into the press pit.

I really need to figure out how to be less awkward at these things! I tend to feel like I’m up in front of a firing squad.

Thankfully on the other side of the photographers lay an endless supply of blue-bottled gin.

After a twirl around the dance floor and some animated chats with the film directors, we sat down to enjoy the show.

We watched all five films, back to back. The best bit about them being shorts rather than feature length movies is that I can share them with you, too.

Go on, grab a cuppa & we can watch them together…

What do you think?

Speed Dating was my favourite, closely followed by Exit Log.

After the films we had a little Q&A with the directors and then headed back out to enjoy the party.

I spotted the Oculus team and founders hiding in a corner & made a beeline for them.

I love a new piece of kit & jumped at the chance to give Facebook’s new purchase a whirl.

It’s a box that straps over your eyes like ski-goggles and a big set of headphones.

What you see in there is hard to describe. It’s like being sucked into a TV screen. You’re watching a video unfold… but you’re smack bang in the middle of the action. You can turn your head and look around.

We watched a guy compose a song on a piano in his sitting room, then I turned my head and looked behind me to see a dog snoozing by the fire.

Very strange, very cool. Even Mr De Niro enjoyed the experience! I can’t wait to see what they do with it… and if Nintendo could get involved and make a new Zelda/Oculus game that would just be terrific!

Thank you for having me, Tribeca. You really stirred my ima-gin-ation!

I can’t wait to crack on with some more New York blogging!
