Lunch and Puddle Jumping

How does that old saying go?

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain”?

Well with the weather January seems to have in store for us Londoners, we don’t seem to have much choice!

Tanya B (YouTuber extraordinaire) & I braved the soggy streets and went for a bit of a stroll around Soho in the hopes that it would, eventually, lead to lunch.

I wore my new cape.

I have always wanted a cape. Always.

I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to get round to it, but I finally found a wool & cashmere one in the Harrods sale. It has great big buttons and makes me feel like I may just be part Elvish. Sadly I don’t have a link to it, they don’t sell them online but I have tried to have a hunt for some alternatives:

Tanya kept it festive in her red coat & enviable Tom Ford specs.

We may have indulged in a little extreme puddle jumping…

The rest of my outfit consists of “leather” leggings, biker boots, a stripy jumper (with anchor elbow patches, I’ll have you know!) and my Gucci blue.

We followed our jumping with the tiniest bit of twirling… if you want to play twirling then both of you have to hold the lamp with one hand, lean out as far as you can and spin, while racing to catch up with the other person.

It’s fun! Try it next time no-one’s looking.

Right, that’s enough silly business. Let’s get on with that walk to lunch shall we?

We stumbled head first into somewhere I’ve been wanting to try, Jackson & Rye.

While I focused my attention on the menu…

…Tanya amused herself with the other side of it.

We started with Truffled popcorn.

If you really concentrate and chew veeerryy delicately, you can just about taste the truffle. This was a little disappointing.

But hey, popcorn’s popcorn!

And the homemade lemonade made up for it.

As did my buttermilk chicken sandwich.

But the real hero of the meal was pudding.

A chocolate sundae with honeycomb chunks and a hot butterscotch sauce.

Check this out…

The sauce melts the hard chocolate shell, allowing you access to the frosty surprise below.

By the time we’d finished pudding, the once busy & bustling restaurant had emptied.

And it was time for us to head home.

The rain stopped for just a few moments to allow us to poke our heads into a few shop windows.

Before the downpour started once again.

We said our goodbyes and went our separate ways. The drive home gave me a little time to enjoy my current obsession…

This dancing in the rain stuff… it’s not half bad, you know.
