Time to get up!
This morning we left the lovebugs (Phoebe & her boyfriend) snuggled in their hut and the musketeers went fishing.
We loaded up the boat with water, sandwiches & life vests.
Just the essentials.
Which for Alex includes lipgloss.
Naturally.
We made our way out to the deep, deep water & got down to fishin’.
We were hunting yellow fin tuna.
The trick is to follow the birds. They stick close to the tuna to catch the leftovers from the feeding frenzy below.
Where the birds are diving, the fish are hiding.
Alex was the first to get a nibble & head fisherman Trevor helped her reel him in.
For the first fish she’s ever caught, it’s a bloody beauty!
Charlie & I were close behind, mine got away at the last second but Charlie’s was even bigger than Alex’s!
Exhausted from reeling & thoroughly blood splattered, we called it a day and headed back to Tavarua.

The wonderful Trevor, my new best friend. He’s taking me fishing again tomorrow so I can redeem myself for coming home empty handed today.

Apparently if we ask nicely the chef will slice it up for a sashimi supper so we’re off to the kitchen!
