A Day at Henley Royal Regatta

It was the hottest day of the year so far.

The sun blazed down, a cool breeze whipped along the river, rustling the leaves, blowing away ladies hats and billowing their skirts into the air exposing their bottoms…

…ok that last bit mostly just happened to me, but y’know, it was breezy.

The perfect day to enjoy a spot of racing in Henley.

We pulled up to the Fawley Meadows enclosure just before lunch.

And enjoyed a few bubbles in the sunshine before sitting down for a feast.

Valentina in pleated Chloé, YSL and towering wedges.

We usually happily picnic on the river bank for Henley, dangle our feet in the water and befriend boys in striped blazers.

But not this time.

This time we were invited to get all fancy in the hospitality area.

Kicking off with an amuse bouche of chilled soup, horseradish cream and caviar.

We placed our bets on who we thought would win each race.

(Valentina invariably plumping for Holland whenever they popped up in the running!)

Before tucking into oak smoked British salmon, celeriac rémoulade and pickled beets.

Chicken ‘n’ peas…

^ A little over excited to be back together at last! Cheers to friendship!

And cheers to chocolate tarts.

We skipped the cheese course and headed right out to drink up some more of the sunshine.

Cheered on our chaps!

And made friends with the delightfully charming (and really rather dapper) Aizak.

I’m wearing one of mum’s designs, a little blue pleated number, straw hat (can’t link to this one so have popped a few options below, make sure you use the arrows to flip to the side), and naked heels.

We slathered on a good layer of SPF before hijacking the water taxi and heading over to the Steward’s Enclosure.

Aye aye cap’n!

Only Pimms served? My kinda bar!

After checking out Queenie’s boat, we dipped into the changing rooms to pat the rowers on the back and wish them good luck.

A tough job, but someone’s gotta do it.

The champagne & sunshine may have gotten the best of a few spectators!

Thankfully we stuck to Valentina’s “every other water” rule (which is a big thing in Sweden and something more bars should advise here, in my opinion) so managed to stay pretty chipper all afternoon.

After a few more races we sailed back to our tent for tea.

We headed off for a few more adventure in the evening, but I’ll tell you all about those next time!

C’mon spill, how was your weekend? Any exciting developments in your world?
