Rubirosa, New York
I have been meaning to tell you about this place for ages.
I can’t remember when I discovered it, but it has become my very favourite place to grab a slice in New York (which is really saying something because pizza in New York is on another level!)
I haven’t blogged about it because I usually go for supper, it’s teeny tiny, very dark and always chocka-block with people jostling for a seat.
So this time I carved out a little time to pop in for lunch and take a few snaps.
The fact it’s hidden away in colourful Nolita certainly doesn’t hurt its case!

The snow may be vanishing from New York (thank goodness) but street art seems to be blossoming wherever you look.
Nowhere is this truer than Downtown.
But I digress. Let’s get back to the matter at hand.
Pizza!
Rubirosa serve up other great things too, salads, sides, specials… like these spicy razor clams.
But really?
This place is all about the pizza.
My personal favourite is the Tie-Dye.
Vodka & tomato sauce, mozzarella and pesto.
Be sure to go hungry, this beauty is not for the faint of heart…

Grab yourself a big ol’ slice, just be sure to do so like a proper New Yorker.
“The New York Fold” is no joke.
Pick up a knife and fork to tackle your pizza in NYC and you won’t be making any friends!
Grab it by the crust, fold in half and tuck in.
Talking animatedly with your mouthful, also thoroughly encouraged.
Rubirosa is on Mulberry St. and no trip to The Big Apple is complete without a visit.
Get the opening hours on the website and book a table on Resy if poss. If not, turn up and have a drink at the bar while you wait for a table.
This place is gunna steal a pizza your heart, guaranteed.
