Meetings in New York
I hopped across The Pond for a few meetings.
I say “a few”, it actually turned out to be more intense than I’d anticipated and I was running all over town all week long!
This meant I didn’t have quite as much time as I would have liked to blog, try out new places or properly explore the city I hold so dearly in my heart.
I’m afraid I don’t have an avalanche of blog posts to share with you, just a couple this time!
My boyfriend and I stayed at The Mark, on the Upper East Side.
Now, I wouldn’t say I chose it because of the striped marble floors…

…but it might have had a slight impact!
Plus it’s sandwiched between the park and some of the best shopping in the city.
Just around the corner is Sant Ambroeus; an Upper East Side institution and just the spot for an early breakfast.

And a small pool of coffee.

Avocado toast, with a side of my New York must… lox and bagels!

A funny little spot, and ideal for people watching.
I complimented an older gentleman on his socks and we subsequently became firm friends and met for breakfast the next couple of days running!
New York is amazing like that.
The iced cappuccinos are pretty special too!

Still unfashionably early by the time we finished breakfast, we started our day with a stroll through Central Park.

Central Park is perhaps my favourite park.
Impeccably designed (by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted and British architect Calvert Vaux in 1858) it’s filled with hills, hollows, valleys, lakes and meadows. Every inch is made to make you feel as though you have the place to yourself.
A private garden, shared by millions.

There’s nothing quite like looking back at the urban skyline from the green of the park.

And nobody frames (or dwarfs) Man’s towering ambition quite like Mother Nature herself!

We found a spot to sit and watch the world come to life.

And bid good morning to a few of the locals.

No sooner had we hopped off our rock, others were clambering up to enjoy the view.
I couldn’t resist a pic of these cuties in their hats…

And when we turned back, a wedding procession began!

Being in this city really feels like walking through a never ending movie.

And I will never get over the impact of a yellow taxi sailing past a deep blue, New York sky.

We flagged two down and went our separate ways to our meetings.
Meeting again further downtown at ABC Kitchen, where even the wifi is “farm to table”.

Sharing all sorts of nibbly bits, from linecaught tuna sashimi marinated with ginger and mint, to bruschetta topped with ramp, goat’s curd and sweet onions.

Crispy calamari.

The most beautiful shaved raw fluke, radish and nasturtium vinaigrette.

Crab toast with lemon aioli and an asparagus, bacon, ricotta, parmesan and black pepper pizza.

Did I mention that Miles joined us too?

Also in town for work (his blossoming modeling career), we had a little Londoner’s lunch as a trio!

It’s safe to say we enjoyed ourselves…

And polished it all off with a salted caramel icecream sundae, candied peanuts & popcorn, whipped cream and chocolate sauce.

No regrets!

Before all saying our goodbyes and heading back to work!

My next meeting just around the corner and happily next to one of my favourite pieces of New York architecture, the Flat Iron Building.
A few more NYC adventures up tomorrow!
