So apparently yesterday was “Blue Monday”.
The most depressing day of the year and the day everyone breaks their New Year’s Resolutions.
Well. I have some excellent advice for anyone who fell into this trap.
Do you want to hear it?
Next year, all you have to do…
… is stop yourself from making any resolutions!
Simple.
Steer clear of crash diets and empty promises. Don’t wait for any date in the calendar to sort yourself out. If you want or need to make a change, make it!
As Oscar Wilde put it; “Everything in moderation, including moderation.”
So with these wise words in mind, and after a particularly vegetable filled weekend, the girls and I went in search of some badness.
Dressed quite appropriately for Blue Monday, as it happens.
And two sale finds…
Military coat of dreams // Cara backpack
Nice and snug despite winter’s sudden arrival.
We found our badness at Tommi’s.
I’ve told you about his burger joint before. Perhaps an oldie, but still a goodie.
Simple, properly made comfort food.
Overflowing salted caramel shakes.
So thick they’re rather hard to suck.
(Oh, Matron!)
My Silver May Traveller’s Sparkler, glittering in the winter sun.
We chattered away, waiting for our burgers and clutching our heads as brain freeze set in!
The huge baskets of chips arrived first.
Hot, salty, fluffy and crunchy without the faintest hint of grease.
We tucked in, dunking into tubs of bearnaise sauce and chipotle mayo.
If you’re a condiment obsessive, as I am, this is the place for you.
Finally our burgers arrived.
This month’s special “The Sloppi Tommi”.
A top quality steak burger, topped with cheese, chilli and a secret sauce.
Not quite as sloppi as we’d hoped for, but much easier to pick up than our ideals.
We lounged on the benches and worked our way through the feast.
Chilling out, listening to the old school rock blasting through the speakers. Watching customers filter in and out, all rolling their eyes with the first bites.
Eventually someone noticed the time, and we figured it was probably time to get back to work.
But not before a quick race around the block with His Lordship, of course.
If you haven’t quite broken your resolutions just yet, I do hope this will be the final straw!
Tommi’s is an excellent choice to pop your New Year’s cherry.
