Having positively stuffed ourselves with chocolate for a couple of days, Milly and I decided it was high time we got out and about.
Kicked our arses into gear and went out to stretch our legs.
It didn’t take long for us to trot up to the top of the Tet Paul Nature Trail, where we could get a good look at the island.
Along with a bird’s eye view of the majestic pitons.
We watched boats gliding to and from Sugar Beach, where we’d wallowed just the day before.
And I could resist touching up my Piton the side…

We even found the most romantic of benches to stop on and take in the view.
You’d be bark-ing not to love this place!
Sorry. Too tempting!
Not quite content with our quest to find the best of Saint Lucia’s great outdoors, we hotfooted it down the mountain to find some waterfalls.
Stopping at the Diamond Botanical Gardens.
Winding our way through the lushest of gardens.
Birds called, frogs chirped, the air thick with moisture with palm trees swaying overhead.
The sulphur springs, which give the local town of Soufriere its name, are the result of a weak spot in the crust of a collapsed crater, due to a volcanic explosion over 410,000 years ago.
The sulphur is said to be tremendously good for you to soak in.
In 1784, to make life easier, King Louis XVI of France built great baths at the foot of the waterfall so his troops could bathe and stew in the miracle waters.
Even Empress Josephine was said to be a fan!
Though I imagine she might have bathed without the troops.
Disappointed not to be allowed to swim in the waterfall itself, we made do with a little meditation.
Before getting utterly drenched in a tropical storm and legging it home again!
There wasn’t much time to waste anyway, it was time to move on to our new home.
We flew past sugarcane fields, plantations of bananas, through towns and villages.
Stopping off at a roadside shack for some chicken rotis, on the run.
Not a thing a beauty, but one of the best dishes you’ll find on the island!
A sort of curried chicken & potato dish, all bundled up in a cross between a pancake and a tortilla wrap.
Not too spicy, but packed full of flavour and a real local favourite.
Just the ticket to keep us going to Marigot Bay.
We checked into our rooms at the Capella and checked out the killer view.
Before heading back down again to explore the bay.
^Risky business twirling on a little deck with all those ropes about!
Clearly I like to live life on the edge.
We jumped onto a passing boat and sailed across the bay.
We chose the most colourful bar on offer, and settled in with a couple of cocktails.
Watching the pirates come and go around us.
Full of rum, sugar and cream, we hopped onto a dingy and chugged back to the hotel.
Changed into a couple of swimmers and got cosy down in the pool.
Yet another place with floating sunbeds?
Who would ever want to leave?!
