I can officially say that “I went to the polo.”
The fact that I didn’t see a single polo pony or player is neither her nor there.
Technically I was at the polo, and that’s all that matters.
On Saturday the blondes & I slipped into our sundresses, unsensible shoes & headed down to Hurlingham Park.
Now, we didn’t intend to miss the actual polo.
When we arrived the edges of the field were absolutely swarmed with people trying to get a closer look. We decided to wait until it had all calmed down a bit & took ourselves shopping.
We ran into Nicola, my jewellery guru & owner of Powder Hill.
I have one of her necklaces & wear it constantly… but fell rather in love with this foxy charm bracelet.
Having made our way around the stalls we headed straight over to the Mahiki tent for cocktails.

We had fully intended to watch the polo from the tent… but got distracted by a group of boys from Texas.
Who kept us fully amused with their anecdotes from across the pond & coconut themed tomfoolery.
No-one else seemed to be paying much attention either.
In the interest of keeping steady on our heels we decided we should probably get something carby & delicious, y’know before catching the next chukka.
Anna Mae’s Mac & Cheese fit the bill perfectly.
Look . at . this…
Go on, go & look at it again. Now look at this, they added bacon & pesto, baby.
Hubba hubba.
I met lots of readers on the day & can proudly say that most of them were clustered around the food stalls! Good work, guys.
Of on us (probably me) suggested “One more glass of Pimms before we clamber through the crowds & watch the polo?” “Yea, go on then.”
Before we knew it the games were over & we’d missed every last drop of polo.
Oh well, there’s always next year!
