Somerset House is one of my favourite places in London.
The huge courtyard plays host to some of The City’s biggest & most glamourous events, and has done so for hundreds of years.
This Christmas, Tiffany’s have put on a truly festive treat.
An enormous (60ft!) Christmas tree covered in lights, baubles & lions greets you as you walk through the old arches into the enormous courtyard.
To your left there’s a larger than life Tiffany’s box housing a shop full of chocolates, cakes & little blue cups of rich hot chocolate.
And in the middle, ofcourse, is the huge slab of ice with couples giggling, children grinning & clumsy young men falling to their knees.
If there’s anything more festive & magical in the whole of London, I’d love to see it!
It’s incredibly difficult to get photos while skating, but I assure you… I was on skates, ON ICE when this was taken! (…in the children’s area.)

We went for the very latest slot at 9.15 but it’s open all day long until the 22nd January.
A wonderful place to take the family, friends or even a first date to ‘break the ice!’ (Sorry.) Book tickets via the
Somerset House website
, or just take your chances & turn up.
Prices vary from about £7 to £14. Mine was £14, but if you’re crafty maybe you can get the cheaper ones.
I’m going to follow this piece up with other wonderful things to do in London over Christmas, so if you’ve seen anything you think I should check out, please let me know!
