Picnic in Richmond Park

Keen to avoid the heat in the city and catch a little of the breeze floating on by, we hitched up our skirts and headed to Richmond.

Richmond Park is the largest Royal park in London. Once Henry VII’s favourite hunting spot, it’s now a nature reserve and one of the few places in London that you can feel well and truly wild.

One second you can be frolicking through long grass pretending to be looking for Heathcliff, before turning a corner and finding yourself peering over the towering buildings of London.

Wild deer roam, birds soar and bumble bees thrive.

There’s really nowhere better to while away a sunny afternoon. Just make sure you hold on to your hat!

We found a shady spot for lunch under the oaks.

Relishing the idea that ladies have been doing the same for hundreds of years.

We nibbled on a few simple treats.

Cured ham,

Stuffed peppers,

Taramasalata and French bread.

Before marching into the meadows to walk it all off.

Flynn Skye summer dress with pockets (currently in the sale! – I got a size “2”)

I’ve become utterly obsessed with this designer. Her dresses are made from the most deliciously soft, light fabric and are cut to flatter any figure. It’s an American brand, but Shopbop ship them here for free. This dress has become my summer uniform.

Exhausted we returned to the shade for cold bubbly, a snooze & some pudding.

Gold tattoo obsession continues…

[iframe frameborder=”0″ height=”120px” scrolling=”no” src=”http://currentlyobsessed.me/api/v1/get_widget?wid=29&blog=The%2BLondoner&product_ids=c0d752df2c43f1096baa19d8137a8b3a,n_9873934,3a7d3fafe97e9bbe436cb967cbb23611&rows=1&cols=3&brand=1&price=0&hover=1″ width=”380px”]

I was allowed ONE photo of my shutterbug Mr.

It’s a good’un!

You ready?

Ok… here it is:

Still sleepy from our snoozing we sat and chatted, with our toes wriggling into the blankets.

Before sleuthing off to hunt some deer.

(With our cameras, obviously!)

Do you think anyone would notice if I took a littl’un home?

After all, girls just wanna have fawn!

  • Rosie, I just found your blog a few months ago and I am so THRILLED that I did. You give such a great taste of what I assume it is to be a Brit. What truly sets your blog apart, though, is how genuine and sweet you come across. A real smile in photos!! gasp! I feel I’ve made a new friend across the pond! I’m so glad you are sharing your adventures with the world. Sending you smiles and warmth from Boston! xo

  • Man I miss English parks! The one place where I felt like I was back in the wide open spaces from home (Midwestern US). I used to love Windsor park for an afternoon in the sun. So chilled.

Looks like your Mr has good fashion sense. My husband would die before he’d put on a pair of Converse sneakers! Hey ho. I love him. Mismatched messy clothing and all.
