He’d been in meetings all day, so he even picked me up at the door like a real date.
Even if he was a little o-late!
Geddit?! Olé / o-late?
You can use that one if you like.
Don’t let the Spanish theme throw you off, we actually went for sushi.
To a place I wrote about years and years ago, before he and I were an item, but I think it’s worth mentioning again.
Just incase, god forbid, you forgot one of my scintillating blog posts!
I know, you never would… but some people, eh?
Welcome (back) to Yashin.
A high-end sushi shop, just off Kensington High Street.
As with every sushi place worth its salt soy sauce, I recommend sitting at the bar.
The chef will send out a complimentary amuse bouche.
A light and delicious razor clam salad in this case.
Something to nibble on while you choose your saké.
We quickly moved onto bigger fry.
Baby octopus salad with seaweed and puffed rice.
Truly exceptional prawns on pink salt.
A self seasoning dish, you rub it across the salt block before popping the prawn into your mouth.
If you enjoy dinner as theatre as much as I do, I’d certainly give it a go.
Summer truffle otoro with truffled ponzu jelly.
Chargrilled octopus with padron peppers.
Tender, perfectly cooked and gently spicy.
Selection of nigiri, topped with all sorts of wonderful things!
Tempura and green bean roll, with ponzu jelly.
Quite the feast, but that’s just how we roll.
If you’re after a sushi supper, Yashin is a great option. Find them in Kensington, book ahead.
Why not make it a fake date too?
