With its golden light, falling leaves and jaw dropping architecture, Paris is quite simply glorious in Autumn!
We popped over for the tail end of Fashion Month, and did a fair bit of exploring besides.
I rented a little flat in Le Marais with the most incredible old staircase, making something as mundane as leaving the house in the morning a real treat.
When in Paris we make an effort to walk everywhere.
The city is so small that you can, and it’s a pretty inspiring place to wander.
It also means you can duck into interesting looking courtyards and make stop offs along the way.
With a mind of their own, our feet carried us to the Picasso museum.
Where I could indulge a little more of my checkerboard floor fetish.
Along with some of Pablo’s earliest, very un-Picasso-like works.
And some more readily recognisable ones.
Encased in sandstone and flooded with light, the museum is one of Paris’ most beautiful spaces.
It’s lesser known than some of the big museums, so you can enjoy it in relative peace.
Especially at this time of year.
Having had our fill of art, but feeling slightly empty on the food front, we set off to find lunch.
Walking through the streets of Paris, we stumbled upon the most incredible florist.
Quite literally bursting with blooms!
Paper wrapped bouquets spilled into the streets as green fingered artists turned roses into sculptures.
The smell was out of this world!
We strolled past many a shop and little French bistro.
Finally stopping at one of my old favourites, one of Paris’ oldest bistros, Le Grand Colbert.
Universally loved by tourists and old school locals alike.
The service is, of course, horrendous. But the food is sublime, and the old Parisian decor second to none.
Skate wing in butter with capers, god my stomach is growling just looking at it!
We polished off the lot, finished our bottle of Chablis and spilled out into the afternoon sunshine.
