As I mentioned, I really didn’t want to plan anything for my birthday this year.
I’d had an amazing trip to Thailand and it was more than enough for me.
Of course, I was forgetting one important piece of information.
Birthday’s aren’t just for you. They’re for your friends! It’s their chance to let their hair down, throw on something sparkly and dance the night away… with no guilt, because after all… they’re doing it for your birthday!
Selina very sweetly organised me a little surprise supper with the help of her Italian stallion, Luca. They took us all to C for the world famous belinis and a full on, all Italian carb fest!
Kicking off with a table full of starters.
Calamari, tuna tartar, burrata, carpaccio, artichokes, salads…
…and grissini.
(Re-rocking the scuba dress!)
My favourite thing about Mediterranean food is the “family style” way of enjoying it.
Everyone get stuck in, you share and if something’s good you tell everyone and make them have a little more of it!
People talk over each other, laugh and interrupt constantly.
Silence only fell when it came to deciding on the next course of events.
But it quickly vanished as we all gave a few toasts.
Although we ordered our own mains, they quickly made the rounds.
Together we shared ravioli,
Grilled fish,
More pasta than little Kimberley had seen in her lifetime!
Scampi risotto (my favourite),
And a few other treats.
Polished off with a very sweet surprise and a chorus of Anglo-Italian singing!
^ That right there is my embarrassed “thank you!!” face. Captured by Milly!
After supper we headed right to Project for a little dancing!
Here the camera was sadly forgotten in the excitement and the mist.
We danced and sang and bounced on the sofas until the very end. The lights came on (far too soon for our liking) and we bundled back to my house for tea and biscuits in bed.
