Last night saw the launch of London’s newest hotspot…*drumroll*… Skate Kings Cross, a roller disco with all the trimmings.

I saw a few little Tweets about it last week & got a little jolt of excitement when the invitation landed with a thud in my inbox.

So yesterday I pulled on my disco pants & headed down to Chelsea to collect partner in crime and slurp a few pre-party cocktails in the sun.

Having had our fill of watermelon martinis at Eclipse, we rolled over to Kings Cross to get our skates on!

We got off to a flying wobbly start.

And things only went downhill…

Having sustained a few war wounds we decided to leave it to the pros and headed to the bar.

Tonight (when it launches properly) there will be a menu of burgers, wings, chips & all sorts of disco themed naughtiness. Sadly we only got to try the “Honey I Shrunk The Kids” versions… but even in miniature form they were good!

Disco Veg Bun : Portobello mushroom, bun sauce, deep fried Cornish brie. Any burger with deep fried brie in it is fine with me, even if it is meat free.

Chips, obviously.

Roller Disco Burger : Rare breed beef patty, cheese, bun sauce, pineapple & bacon jam. Mouthwateringly, oozingly delicious. I met lots of lots of blog readers throughout the evening & we all bonded over our shared burger obsession! These little ladies were particularly keen to get stuck in & stalked the food waiters with me.

After a couple more glasses of Pimms PW & I got stuck into the disco theme of things. Thankfully I was pretty restrained & stopped myself from looking like an idiot. (I didn’t.)

Before cooling off with a spot of nitro-icecream from ” Lick Me I’m Delicious“.

I went for a salted caramel cupcake, which came in an edible chocolate cupcake pot.

Very snazzy indeed.

Even if (like us) you’re not much of a skater it’s still a great place to go and have a drink. We watched couples, friends and dates giggle their way through the evening. A perfect spot for people watchers.

I was very jealous of this woman’s skates!

I imagine those are the envy inducing Louboutins of the roller disco world. Having had our fill of sugar & excitement for one evening we headed out to the square to watch the sun set & have a little paddle in the fountains.

Seeing as I can’t remember the last time I laughed this much, I can’t recommend a trip enough. Get your skates on & get down to Kings Cross for a boogie & a burger. It opens tonight and runs until early September, you can get all the juicy info online here .
