Mudgley Cider

Wilkins’ Cider Farm is something of a Somerset institution.

Not many people know about it, but those who do are fiercely loyal.

A real spit’n’sawdust kinda place, they make proper cider, poured from proper big barrels, served in proper glass tankards.

Roger, the owner, is usually as pickled as the onions he serves along side the cheese he makes.

You can choose between dry, sweet or “‘alf n ‘alf” (a mix of the two).

I went home for the weekend with Phoebe & Tom so we headed down with my parents & Custard for a pint or four in the orchard.

This isn’t the sort of place you can ask for a cushion. Thankfully I brought my own.

Even Banksy’s paid a visit…

Like most farms there’s usually a litter of kittens on sale out back.

But we’ve got our hands full with our own little fluffballs!

After a few pints & a little too much cheese everyone tends to doze off in the afternoon sun.

Time to go home Custard, you’re drunk!

We drank & ate steadily all afternoon. When the time came to settle up, the bill came to a whopping… £10. Not each. Just £10. For everything. If you’re based in the West (or even if you’re not) Wilkins is well worth a trip. Find all the info you could ever ask for on their very witty website .
