If you take my advice (as you should, I give excellent advice (yes you should buy those shoes)) and go to Herman Ze German for ze excellent hotdogs , then you may wonder what you should do for pudding.
That my friend is an excellent question and one I don’t take lightly.
You can’t underestimate the importance of a good pudding and, of course, a good cup of tea (or coffee if you’re that way inclined). They round off a meal. Tie the bow. Pop the cherry on top. They just give you that afternoon “ahhh, that’s better” glow.
Soho offers a plethora of pudding delights. Ice-cream parlours, patisseries and coffee shops. But how about something different?
‘ow about a spot o’ culture wiv ya cuppa, me ol’ mucker?
We headed over to The Photographer’s Gallery for a snoop and a slice of apple pie.
I fell in love with this little guy.
I desperately want a sausage dog called Frank, but that’s a story for another time.
In order to let your own sausages settle and make room for pudding, you’ll want to take the lift right to the top and work your way down, towards the cake.
On the 5th floor you’ll find Mark Neville’s “Deeds Not Words” exhibit. A collection of photos he took of the people in Corby, Northamptonshire. It was to show the effects of environmental pollution which had led to babies being born with serious birth defects. Rather than producing a book to sell, he printed them to be sent to 433 local authorities to raise the profile of the town, raise awareness around the issue of toxic waste and indict the local council for negligent disposal of waste from the townâÂÂs steel mills, which closed in the 1980s. The photographs are not just those of the victims, but the community as a whole.
The fourth & second floor are dedicated to the rather wonderful “Mass Observation Project”.
The gallery isn’t fancy, you can wear whatever you’re comfortable in. I went for denim shorts , love + hate jumper , my Billingham camera bag ,Chanel espadrilles , a Hennies necklace and a Marc Jacobs cuff.
When you finally make your way back downstairs to the cafe, I highly recommend the tarts.
Or the brownies…
Or that gooey chocolate cake thing they do…
Ok, I’ll leave it to you, it’s all good.
You’ll find all the gallery & exhibit info online along with the address, which will come in handy.
