Santa Maria Pizza, London
When West London gets a new East London style restaurant, we all get very excited.
“Cool” is something that usually happens over on the east side of town.
Places like Chelsea & Fulham are crying out for fresh hot spots, hungry for casual dining and simple but delicious eateries.
So when we heard they was a new kid on the block, Custard and I pulled on our sneakers and raced out to check it out.
Honestly, could he be any more handsome?!

Proper Neapolitan pizza is one of life’s greatest pleasures. The chewy base, the little speckles of burned dough that sizzle with flavour, the gooey cheese and sharp tomato sauce… life changingly good.
Often hard to come by in a world outside of Italy, filled with microwave pizza and cardboard bases.
But Fulham has a new spot ready and waiting to fill the Napoletana sized hole in your life.
Welcome to Santa Maria.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, there are a few starters to try before getting to the main event.
Trust me, you don’t wanna miss out on these.
Carpaccio di bresaola with parmesan and rocket.
Meatballs in a ‘nduja & ricotta sauce.
Easily the best meatballs I’ve ever eaten, and I’ve tried a fair few balls.
Spicy, rich, creamy, truly spectacular.
Creamy burrata from Puglia.
Especially good dunked into the meatball sauce.
The pizzas themselves are all made up to order.
Made the old fashioned way, generously topped and cooked by the fire in the blink of an eye.
The bronzed and blistered pizzas fly over to the table within a few minutes.
Truly the greatest fast food on earth.
SAN GENNARO (Napoli) – Tomato sauce, mozzarella, anchovies, black olives, capers, oregano.
A special of the day, covered in meats, courgettes and heaped mozzarella.
And finally, the SAN MATTIA – Buffalo mozzarella DOP, mushrooms, truffle oil, parmesan shavings.
Don’t miss this. You have to get one for the table to share, it’ll blow your mind!
All polished off with compulsory tiramisu.
When in Rome!
There are two Santa Maria’s in London, so you can take your pick.
One in Ealing, the other on the border of Chelsea & Fulham.
Take a group of friends, or maybe set a double date. It’s very relaxed, no nonsense, the pizzas are about £6-£10 each and there’s a cocktail bar.
You’re going to love it!
Plus, now the weather’s so gorgeous there’s no excuse not to get out and walk it all off afterwards.
Handsome but hairy buddy optional.
I’m talking about me, not Custard.
