B&H Bottomless Bellini Brunch

The idea of anything being bottomless is really rather wonderful.

It makes me think of Hogwarts feasting, the dinners from Hook and daily life with the Larkins. Unlimited abundance is achingly attractive!

I’m aware that this is all in my head. That when I’m offered bottomless booze, I probably can’t drink enough to make it “worthwhile” or much better than just ordering drinks as you normally would… but it feels better. It feels generous and relaxed. Like being looked after in someone’s home, rather than a restaurant.

So I have to be honest when I say that the “Bottomless Bellini Brunch” at Bourne & Hollingsworth is what suckered me in for a visit.

But there’s so much more that’ll drag me back again!

You arrive at an unassuming, muted little shop front.

There’s hardly any signage or clue that you might be in the right place…

Do not arrive before 10am.

Even if you’re just 10mins early and it’s raining, they will make you stand outside.

Leaving you to peer through the windows and dream of breakfast as the clock ticks away…

As the chimes call out 10am, you’re allowed inside.

The vibe is very Soho House. The decor is higgledy piggledy and really rather beautiful.

Each nook and cranny has its own style, and the greenhouse is my favourite.

^ New bag! (I’ll tell you about it after breakfast.)

On weekends you’re presented with a cocktail list and a hefty food menu, by a cheery, warm smiled waitress; who heartily recommends them.

^Oops, there it is again!

Unable to decide, we went for the bellinis and the Marys, and promised to share both.

If you ask for a spicy Bloody Mary, you will be served one fresh from hell.

If you think you like spicy things and you usually order a spicy Bloody Mary, because you really rather like spicy Bloody Marys… think again. Go medium!

The food is where this place really excels.

I had “Huevos Benedictos” chorizo, béarnaise sauce, pico de gallo.

My date went for the Full English.

You build your own from the list of what’s on offer.

Sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, beans, toast, and black pudding (which he hates but gives to me!)

The huevos are corking!

Fresh, rich, sharp and meaty. A really special mix of flavours and textures.

Ok, so the eggs were a tad over cooked… but with teeny tiny jars of sauce handing around, who could be upset?!

B&H is a great place for a weekend brunch in London.

It’s worth booking ahead of time, they fill up pretty fast. Take a group, go bottomless and spend a long, lazy morning making the most of it.

Afterwards you can always head off on a walk to burn off some of those bellinis!

Well, I guess that’s all folks!

Don’t think I had anything else to tell you about today…

Except this baby!

My wondrous, sumptuous, gorgeous, tactile, sack of a bag! (Also comes in black, if you wanted a work bag that’ll fit a laptop and an evening bag that detaches?)

They’re designed and made in England by Olive Cooper.

It’s new and already Olive it so much!
