Selfridges Christmas Hampers

Another day, another Great British department store!

I’ve been running around for the last week trying to get things sorted for Christmas.

I’m going away next week and want to have as much done as possible before then. This has meant getting something of a fuel injection of Christmas spirit! The shops are all pumping out jingle bells and choir choruses, everything twinkles or glitters, and so far Selfridges seems to be leading the pack when it comes to window displays!

They say the circumference of Selfridges is a mile, and much of it is covered in… Christmas.

It’s well worth stopping for a peek!

I don’t want to spoil it for you…

…but there’s even a ruddy unicorn!

There’s a golden taxi and a hat tipping Paddington bear surrounded by marmalade, naturally.

Upstairs you’ll find “Le Chalet”.

A newly spruced up festive restaurant!

You look out over London, wrapped in a snuggly blanket while people bring you delicious things to eat.

This is pretty much my dream scenario to be honest!

If you’re wondering why the restaurant is quite so quiet, it’s because it wasn’t open.

I snuck up early with a handful of food bloggers, to take a peek at the new Christmas hampers on offer.

If there’s one thing Selfridges is known for, it’s the food hall!

You can pick up everything from sushi, to salt beef sandwiches, Pinkberry, caviar, champagne, fresh flowers, dim sum… if you can think it, you can eat it.

So who better to put together a foodie Christmas hamper?!

They come in various sizes and various prices, ranging from £5,000 to £50!

The £5,000 one wasn’t on display. Pretty disappointing. I’d have liked to have gotten inside it, closed the lid and chomped my way through the lot!

Thankfully there were nibbles on offer to soften the blow.

And coffee, coffee always helps!

We sat down for a bite of breakfast.

And one last rummage through the hampers,

Before sneaking off for a whirl around the shop floor.

How adorable are these Christmas stockings?! Do you hang a stocking on Christmas eve?

I would very much like to find this chap in mine.

I’ve always been a big fan of Paddington Bear, so I’m thrilled to see he’s making a comeback!

Must have been grizzly for him to think the world had forgotten about him… I can’t bear to imagine.

We left a few stragglers inside, they’d gotten swept away by the excitement!

And wrapped up again for one last stroll around the glittering window displays.

It’s well worth a trip if you’re in need of a little Christmassy pick-me-up!

You have to stop for a photo. It would almost be trees-on not to!

Get up fir-ly close and snap away!

Oh and if you’re in the UK and have a second, please text POPPY to 70020, to donate £3.

Remembrance Sunday has been and gone, but you can still remember the fallen and help their families.

It’ll immediately *pop* a bit of warmth into your heart and can be your random act of kindness for the day! Who knows what kind of good karma could come your way…

  • The Christmas mood is kicking in. How I loved being in London this time – last year.

  • Your posts are like Christmas presents Rose! I love reading them, especially as a break from all of my coursework that has to be in this week. Looking forward to handing it in and being able to get stuck into Christmas! xxx

  • Oh, I was supposed to go to this but as it was early and I don’t like in London I wimped out – wish I had not now, because then we would have been finally able to catch up!

I missed the Selfridge’s Christmas window last year so I’m determined to get into London and see it this year! Gorgeous post as always, Rosie.

  • Selfridges looks amazing this Christmas!

  • Oh my I can’t wait till the Christmas decorations hit the stores here in the Nertherlands! You look beautiful and I’m super curious what you got your mum for Christmas as I am struggling finding that perfect gift for her this year!

  • Kira MacKenzie

Stoked to see someone else is in the Christmas spirit already! Was feeling a bit lonely over here in all my holiday cheer x Those foodie baskets look divine, and I have a feeling Le Chalet will somehow beckon me out to make a day of it! Thank you again for a lovely post, such a wonderful way to wake up in the morning!

  • Hmmmm it just doesn’t feel right…it feels we’ve started to ‘celebrate’ Christmas in August. It’s not about buy-sell, windows and lights. Yes, it’s all part of it but it’s not the essence. Spread it across a few months…make ten drinks with one spoonful of coffee…watery, weak, uninspiring! I know I’m waiting for a bit longer with all that Christmassy fever!

  • Another gorgeous post Rose 🙂 I managed to stay away from the biscuits but got through a lovely cup of tea and a Protein muffin whilst reading. I can’t wait to put my tree up – but I will, well to December 5th anyway! Have fun wherever you are heading!

  • Amber Rhodes

What a gorgeous looking store. If I ever come to England I will have to visit.

Cannot wait for a trip to Selfridges, it’s a Christmas ritual! Have you ever seen the film ‘The Greatest Store In The World’ where a family move into a department store? When I was a kid I always wanted that to be my life…and Selfridges was the store I wanted to live in, haha!

  • Selfridges looks wonderful! Nothing like a one stop shop for shopping, lunch and snooping. Love it

  • Christmas window shopping is the best! We don’t have Selfridges here but Macy’s traditionally does some spectacular windows as does the swankier Neiman Marcus.

Lucky you! Selfridges hampers are always a treat to get.

And it’s never Christmas until you’ve taken a stroll past their windows – always do it every year!

    Em | Hmm maybe…

  • The very best time in the year is creepin’ up on us, and I’m loving it!! The sparkles, the green and red and gold, the snuggly clothes… my heart can’t even begin to take it!!

  • Laura Milroy

I wish the British store display trend hit north america a bit more. So far, it’s pretty disappointing compared to what you’re showing us! Although it’s pretty hard to beat a gold taxi.

    xoxo Laura

  • Cynthia

This really is my favorite time of the year! I can’t wait for everything to really begin looking like the holiday season.

Also, Rosie your hair looks AMAZING here! Did you do anything differently?

  • Oh my, you have such *fabulous* hair!

  • Laura

Nothing more festive than a Christmas hamper!

    Love your beautiful coat!

  • Christmas!
Before I moved to England, I always had laugh about such an early Christmas shopping. But now, I totally understand why it is this way… London lifeis so quick and active, that you really need to start preparing for Christmas in advance!

  • Abby

That looks like my kind of cafe! Anywhere with blankets and food is automatically my favorite!

  • Emily Young

Wow! Someday I will hopefully get to see Selfridges Christmas window display! I’ll have to settle for the Macy’s window display in Chicago this Thanksgiving instead. To answer your question, we love to hang our stockings up on Christmas eve! So much fun to stuff my parents stockings too. I’ve been brainstorming on what to put in them this year…. Maybe you could write a post: Stocking Stuffers 101.

  • Omg. To be in London for the holidays…would be AMAZING. Would love to see all of the different stores you guys have! I was in Dublin once for Christmas and couldn’t believe the displays…LONDON is next on my list!

    xx, Kristi

  • It looks magical! Would be super cute to get those stockings and pop a present in them for my besties instead of wrapping !

  • Great photos, and you look beautiful as well Rosie! That post was just what I needed to get me into the Christmas Spirit. We had our Remembrance Day in Canada on Nov. 11 this year so no more holidays until Christmas! Yay!

I love Christmas crackers so much. They’re a staple in my house throughout Christmas day. I’m originally from South Africa and so are my parents. It just seemed natural to have and they sell them in Canada so I assumed everyone knew. But I found out so many of my friends don’t know about them. It was so much fun introducing the crackers to them!

Hope you’re keeping warm Rosie. I love reading your posts.

I wish that we had places this great in the states!
