Handluggage Snoop

You can’t beat a bit of a snoop through a girlfriend’s bag.

I’m always being asked for these posts, but rarely get around to them.

To be perfectly honest, my handbag is usually chock-a-block with wrinkled receipts, gum wrappers, cables, wires, and SD cards… so I don’t think you’d enjoy a breakdown too much!

But today is a special day.

Today my humble sac turns into a life raft in a sea of commotion.

Today it will house all my necessities, and get me to my destination as serenely as possible.

Today it’s going to Paris.

Firstly it houses alotta stuff!

[iframe frameborder=”0″ height=”120px” scrolling=”no” src=”http://currentlyobsessed.me/api/v1/get_widget?wid=29&blog=The%2BLondoner&product_ids=n_12914922,n_12935034,n_12935094,n_12935070,n_10519154,n_12935098,n_12227294,n_12935142,n_12935038,n_12621034,n_12330082,n_12234242,n_12234274&rows=1&cols=5&brand=1&price=0&hover=1″ width=”600px”]

Now, I grew up with a blankie. (Don’t tell a soul… but I still have it.)

There is nothing on this planet that I find more relaxing than snuggling into my blanket, especially when it’s fresh from the laundry (even BETTER when it’s still warm from the dryer!).

Sadly travelling with a blanket is not exactly socially acceptable… and can be a bit cumbersome.

So I like to find chic replacements.

[iframe frameborder=”0″ height=”120px” scrolling=”no” src=”http://currentlyobsessed.me/api/v1/get_widget?wid=29&blog=The%2BLondoner&product_ids=n_12822422,n_11932799,d8a9e1f20f175e9825753962bb6b78b1,n_12933446,n_12933574,n_8297786,n_12933570,n_12933566,n_12933558&rows=1&cols=5&brand=1&price=0&hover=1″ width=”600px”]

This Temperley London blue & white creation might just be the love of my life.

It is softer and cuddlier than a needy kitten. It goes with everything I own (hello, it’s blue and white!). I’m never taking it off.

Next on the list of absolute essentials?

Music.

This is my chilled out travel playlist… feel free to use it as your own!

(No-one enjoys fluorescent lighting!)

Then there’s beauty stuff.

I tend to keep this kit on me so it doesn’t get squished and splurt all over my clothes. And some of it is nice to dab on as you travel too.

Penhaligon’s travel candle. A gift from the chap. Haven’t used it yet, but it smells divine!

Although, if we’re talking about heavenly scents… nothing, NOTHING compares to this.

Armani Privé Améthyste perfume.

My new ‘thing’. It smells like the best spa you’ve ever been to, times ten… plus sexy. Honestly, it smells sexy. There’s no other way to describe it.

Really quite expensive for perfume, but a little goes a LONG way (I learnt this the hard way having bathed myself in the stuff!).

Bath oil (I’m not staying in a hotel this time, staying with friends).

Random foreign lip cream. Not sure where I bought this.

^ The best beauty purchase I’ve ever made.

I force everyone I know, male or female, to buy this.

It’s Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. You just slather on a few drops at bed time, it soothes you with lavender and irons out the stresses of the day from your skin.

Makeup wise, on my skin I pretty much just wear moisturiser and bronzer during the day, during summer.

I’m taking BB cream incase I go somewhere fancy in the eve. And under eye cream incase I need a little lift the day after!

Soothing eye masks because my eyes get strained staring at a computer all the time.

Clarins mascara, so well loved all the markings have rubbed off!

[iframe frameborder=”0″ height=”120px” scrolling=”no” src=”http://currentlyobsessed.me/api/v1/get_widget?wid=29&blog=The%2BLondoner&product_ids=2bc1a91c3253839196fab5fc43e4514c,4eda78ad5e7738b3303082823b9469d7,ae84e8a955fb33c49cbc2d0b5989a62d,0139866d144ebcbc65aea340921c41df,a0ed2ecc8bc2676996ba9abcd0f8f409,d6027852cabb6b100279e382ef093497,n_12934830&rows=1&cols=5&brand=1&price=0&hover=1″ width=”600px”]

This little critter gives me wireless internet wherever I go. Tep.

I have one for Europe and one for the US. Cracking invention!

New Elle. Obvs.

Smythson notebook for when inspiration strikes!

[iframe frameborder=”0″ height=”120px” scrolling=”no” src=”http://currentlyobsessed.me/api/v1/get_widget?wid=29&blog=The%2BLondoner&product_ids=n_12934530,n_12934538,n_12934522,n_12934526,n_12934602,n_12934534&rows=1&cols=5&brand=1&price=0&hover=1″ width=”600px”]

And of course my passport, and the world’s oldest Mulberry wallet.

Obviously at the last minute I’ll panic and stuff it with receipts, cables and Haribo.

I’m leaving this afternoon & can’t wait to wake up tomorrow and start wandering the cobbled streets with my trusty camera, fuelled by chocolate croissants!

À demain!

Have you seen these?

I could quite happily spend my life drifting around wearing different styles of blankie-shawls. They are the best invention EVER. (and TK Maxx have lots of them at outrageous prices!!)
Enjoy Paris! I’m heading there next month to see Jay Z and Beyoncé (eeeeeeeep).
Restaurant recommendation – opposite the Moulin Rouge (Blanche metro station) if you shimmy down a little street there is a restaurant called ‘Carpe Diem’ and it is the most incredible food I have ever eaten. Classic French and they only serve wine or water to drink – magnifique!

    Hi Rosie!
I’m wondering – what is body oil? My British friends have talked about it, but I’ve never asked what it was – my British/American aunt left some at my house once, I had no idea what it was! Does it make your shower oily? How is it different from using lotion after a shower? 🙂
    XO Annabella

  • Aaaah, love the playlist!

  • Very lustworthy selection there, topped off with the fact you are going to Paris – very jealous! Have a great time!

  • Katy Brennan

I love posts like this, I think it’s because I’m just so nosey and love seeing what other people keep close to them.

Have a lovely trip first of all! And second I think I know what it is that I love most about your blog. You have a very grounded, down to earth writing style that is pleasurable to read and your sense of humour is very comforting too. Also, you have a personality that is relatable to everyone. However, the things you do are very exciting which is both inspirational and enjoyable. In the end it is almost like we are all there as well in Greece or Paris or Thailand(well thats how I feel anyway). Keep blogging and enjoy Paris!

  • Sarah

    Hi Rosie,
I was just wondering if you ever wear foundation and if so which one? If not what would you use on your face for say a night out?
    Thanks x

  • Awesome!!!
You going to Paris means lots of yummy posts for us to read!!
Please, Rosie, as many posts as you can!!! 🙂

I have got to check out that internet device, I could really use that as I don’t have internet out here on the farm and I have a blog, it’s all very complicated;) and I can’t wait to try a little sniff of that perfume, always on a hunt for a great perfume! Have so much fun in Paris, can’t wait to read all about it!

  • I love a good handbag snoop! I just did a post last week about my morning/night beauty routine and the Kiehl’s eye serum you posted was on there! I got a sample of it but I couldn’t decide whether or not to love it or leave it – I’m glad you love it – maybe i’ll keep using it to get its full effects! Enjoy Paris! Can’t wait to see your posts on it 🙂

Lovely post. I agree with so many of your tips! I have to bring some kind of big scarf with me to snuggle up with, and nuxe reve de miel is the best lip balm known to man, I can’t leave anywhere without it!

  • Have fun!

Oh, and by the way, seeing it here, thanks so much for writing about Effaclar a while back. Since I moved to Los Angeles my formerly flawless skin as been riddled with problems, but that, plus the matching foaming cleanser is the first thing I’ve tried in almost two years that has actually helped. So thank you!!

  • Every time I read one of your posts I hear my wallet groan… Love the Victoria Beckham sunnies, they look very Parisian!

  • s’amuser! Thanks for sharing what goes in your travel bag – I pack so much in! Try and go to Dessance in the Marais. It will blow your mind! xx

  • Oh man, to be leaving for Paris… consider yourself the luckiest gal in the world right now! This is quite a stash you’ve got yourself there… my travel pack’s pretty similar – traveling is the only time I have time to read glossies, so that’s always my little reading time 🙂 I’ve gotta check out that wireless Internet device… sounds amazing!
    http://www.perpetuallycaroline.com

  • Also love a snoop.

    Two things I love…

That you clearly USE your mascara. It’s not pristine, it’s actually used. Good, I’m glad I’m not the only one who has beauty favourites.

AND that it’s Elle and not Vogue. Maybe it’s habit as Elle is the one I picked up first about 6 years ago (I remember Gwen Stefani was on the cover) but I prefer it to all the other fashion heavyweights.

    Have a wonderful time!

I looooove snooping through the handbags/beauty cabinets/etc of the people who inspire me. So thank you for indulging my nosy side 🙂 A thick scarf that can double as a blanket is a must when I travel. I freeze nearly every where. I love your choice–that print is perfection. xx

  • I love the scarf it’s so beautiful 🙂

  • Such a nice balanced collection of high-end and cozy! I think I’m the only weirdo I know who actually really enjoys packing. Leaving on a month long trip with my own chap starting in Paris and working our way through Thailand to Tokyo- now there’s a packing challenge!

We just got back from Italy, and I wrote little post about it 🙂

  • I love having a nosey through other peoples travel bags as everyone seems to have some genius item I always forget to pack! That shawl is so beautiful – a very grown up blankie alternative! As for you playlist, I would hugely recommend adding ‘River Flows in You’ by Yiruma. It is the dreamiest piano piece ever xxx

Did Prada do the monogramming on your bag? I have a prada bag which I wanted monogramming but wasn’t sure whether I should ask them or go elsewhere. Thanks

  • Theresa Y.

Love this post! I know what you mean about the perfume – I think it will be my next purchase. I just picked up a bottle of the midnight recovery concentrate, on your advice, and I am looking forward to trying it out tonight! I’ll have to make a review on my blog http://livingtoat.com/
