Lunch and Puddle Jumping

How does that old saying go?

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain”?

Well with the weather January seems to have in store for us Londoners, we don’t seem to have much choice!

Tanya B (YouTuber extraordinaire) & I braved the soggy streets and went for a bit of a stroll around Soho in the hopes that it would, eventually, lead to lunch.

I wore my new cape.

I have always wanted a cape. Always.

I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to get round to it, but I finally found a wool & cashmere one in the Harrods sale. It has great big buttons and makes me feel like I may just be part Elvish. Sadly I don’t have a link to it, they don’t sell them online but I have tried to have a hunt for some alternatives:

[iframe frameborder=”0″ height=”120px” scrolling=”no” src=”http://currentlyobsessed.me/api/v1/get_widget?wid=29&blog=The%2BLondoner&product_ids=f39f7690f1940d30345250e5f69edde2,n_4289712,n_4289661,n_4289649,n_4289682,1d5bc84a9a6bfd5e97d261c30a7eb736,n_4289709,n_4289700,0727dd27236b6beff5f505acfd617f16,9eecfc9ac4e02ac433337b16fdc797f3,n_4289625&rows=1&cols=5&brand=1&price=0&hover=1″ width=”600px”]

Tanya kept it festive in her red coat & enviable Tom Ford specs.

We may have indulged in a little extreme puddle jumping…

The rest of my outfit consists of “leather” leggings, biker boots, a stripy jumper (with anchor elbow patches, I’ll have you know!) and my Gucci blue.

[iframe frameborder=”0″ height=”120px” scrolling=”no” src=”http://currentlyobsessed.me/api/v1/get_widget?wid=29&blog=The%2BLondoner&product_ids=56cdceadf8ad935e710ccff42b179908,n_4289904,n_4289901,f9068da0672c3458d26e08b6e32dc4fd,n_4124859&rows=1&cols=5&brand=1&price=0&hover=1″ width=”600px”]

We followed our jumping with the tiniest bit of twirling… if you want to play twirling then both of you have to hold the lamp with one hand, lean out as far as you can and spin, while racing to catch up with the other person.

It’s fun! Try it next time no-one’s looking.

[iframe frameborder=”0″ height=”120px” scrolling=”no” src=”http://currentlyobsessed.me/api/v1/get_widget?wid=29&blog=The%2BLondoner&product_ids=n_4289895,n_4289868,n_4290102,n_4289877,n_2940168&rows=1&cols=5&brand=1&price=0&hover=1″ width=”600px”]

Right, that’s enough silly business. Let’s get on with that walk to lunch shall we?

We stumbled head first into somewhere I’ve been wanting to try, Jackson & Rye.

While I focused my attention on the menu…

…Tanya amused herself with the other side of it.

We started with Truffled popcorn.

If you really concentrate and chew veeerryy delicately, you can just about taste the truffle. This was a little disappointing.

But hey, popcorn’s popcorn!

And the homemade lemonade made up for it.

As did my buttermilk chicken sandwich.

But the real hero of the meal was pudding.

A chocolate sundae with honeycomb chunks and a hot butterscotch sauce.

Check this out…

The sauce melts the hard chocolate shell, allowing you access to the frosty surprise below.

By the time we’d finished pudding, the once busy & bustling restaurant had emptied.

And it was time for us to head home.

The rain stopped for just a few moments to allow us to poke our heads into a few shop windows.

Before the downpour started once again.

We said our goodbyes and went our separate ways. The drive home gave me a little time to enjoy my current obsession…

This dancing in the rain stuff… it’s not half bad, you know.

looks to have been a great time! y’all both look very chic.

  • I love the cape, but I tend to want to refer to them as cloaks. It sounds more mischievous. It looks great though.

  • Amanda @ A Latte Learn

Love Miss Tanya Burr and her excellent YouTube channel! Looking fabulous ladies! πŸ™‚

  • oOoOOo dreamy cape, pretty much a nice wrap-around blanket you can leave the house in….off to search for capes!

  • Georgie

LOVE the cape Rose even though the weather looks so icks-ville over there at the moment – at least it makes a good excuse to bust one out! I’d suggest popping over the Melbourne for a bit of our summer sun – you would lose yourself in the restaurants here I promise! x

  • Love your necklace, Rose! And Tanya’s (engagement?) ring! You two are too cute! xx

  • Sepideh

Jumping in puddles of water seems like a lot more fun than grumpily walking around with your head hidden under an umbrella, grumbling at Mother Nature. If only adults puddle jumped more often…!

The burger looks delicious and the sundae is AWESOME!!!!!!!! I wish I could come to London more often because you always have the best restaurant suggestions!!!!! We were only there for 4 days this summer and yet I managed to fit in two suggestions that I got from your blog. I need more than 4 days to catch up on all the amazing food I’ve been seeing lately…

Christ I’d actually marry that burger (if it was to say yes of course). There are supermodels who look less attractive. Just moved from SW6 to rural Sussrx where buttermilk chicken isn’t a thing….this blog isn’t easing my transition!!! (Keep up the good work though! X)

  • I puddle jump with my dog!!!!! In fact, we both do a sort-of grand jetΓ©, over them, in sync, like we’re partners on the ballet stage. Ha ha!

  • Oh my, that pudding looks totally sinful, but oh so worth sinning!!!!
Love your cape – I have one very similar, they never seem to date.

  • Oh my God, your cape!! My little sister and I would wander around the Harrods children’s department at Christmas time, begging our mum to buy one of the capes (red with black trimming was always my favourite- like a sophisticated little Red Riding Hood or so I thought!). Anyway, I’m very envious of yours!

So I’m keeping a new year’s resolution of mine that is every time I read an entire blog post to comment. This way I’m letting the person know that first I have read it, liked it (or maybe not) and what I think of it.
I’m a subscriber to Tania’s channel and it is so good to see that two of my favourite blogger’s (and youtuber) are friends. The best part is that you decided to show us amazing food (getting hungry over here) and your look for the day.
