Brentwood Country Mart

As you know, I went to supper in Brentwood a few nights ago.

I loved it, it was beautiful, the food was incredible… but nothing else was open.

When I saw my namesake of an ice-cream parlour on the way out, I knew I’d have to return for a better snoop & a scoop.

So I did!

You can’t beat a bit of red, white & blue! Especially when the sky goes that ridiculous shade of perfect.

The Country Mart is a sort of posh, outdoor shopping mall.

It’s all clad in painted wood with pretty things bursting from every window.

In the middle there’s a “food court” for those who don’t fancy a proper, sit down restaurant.

My amigo & I plumped for tacos from Frida.

Although with a vague nod towards being healthy, we went for lettuce wraps instead of tortillas.

For pudding we went to the (*ahem* brilliantly named) Sweet Rose Creamery for ice-cream.

Where I had a big scoop of peanut butter ice-cream with brownie chunks in a chocolate waffle cone.

Washed down with an iced-latte from next door.

I’ve only just discovered iced-lattes and let me tell you, it is a revelation!

They are quite simply… da bomb.

God bless America & their coffee culture!

Ps. A few people have asked for a little meet-up while I’m here & I can’t think of anything nicer!

I’m missing Señor Custard pretty badly, so I was thinking we could all meet for coffee (iced lattes) in the park and if you happen to have a fluffy four legged friend, you could bring them along & I could have a bit of a squeeze! (If you don’t mind sharing, of course.)

It would be great to meet you and maybe you could meet & befriend some other cool Angelinos!

We can take a few photos, trade stories & LA tips… then everyone can spend the afternoon enjoying the park!

What do you think?

If you fancy a wee sociable cup of java, come say hi at The Trails Cafe in Griffith Park at around 4pm on Sunday 6th October and bring a friend (canine or otherwise).

Jeez, can you believe it’s already October?

  • I’m glad you’ve discovered an appreciation for iced lattes, I moved to London from NY last month and I’ve hardly been able to find them anywhere! I was beginning to wonder if Brits just think cold coffee is weird. I for one love it right up until it snows! πŸ™‚

    • They sell them at Starbucks πŸ™‚ And then Starbucks cold coffee you can buy at all stores in the UK you just have to put ice in them yourself πŸ˜€

    Rosie,

I am so so bummed! I was in LA last weekend for a conference, but I am back in Arizona. Super bummed I don’t have a chance to fly out to participate in the Meet n Greet.

  • Oh and you continue on your tour of making me miss LA. I only actually made it out to the mart once in 10 months because of transport links, but it will always be special to me as it was one of the first places I visited in the city, and my first letter home (my grandfather does not do email) was posted from that quaint little post office! xx

  • Mary Kate Glenning

Really looking forward to it!!! I just moved back to Malibu from South Kensington and I live vicariously through your blog. Can’t wait to meet you!

  • Teresa

Oooohhh yesss great choice Rosie,PEANUT BUTTER LOVE :D!!! Shame we don’t get it in Spain :'( it’s ridiculous how much I love it tho…

  • Channon Doughty

The meetup sounds divine. But you may want to reconsider the park with the Santa Anas winds blowing back in this weekend and the high dust and pollen counts they bring. Those things will definitely force me to stay indoors.

    • Michelle

OOOH agree. It will be much nicer/cooler by the beach. Palisades Park or even the Venice boardwalk area. Not just saying that because I live over here!

Rosie, you have to go to Tacos Punta Cabras for fish tacos. I mean it! πŸ˜‰

How do you make everything look so lovely and glamorous? After living in So Cal for 30 years, I couldn’t wait to get out of there…it looked dirty, smoggy and outdated when we left. But your photo’s make me feel like I missed out on stuff!!!

  • I was actually planning on hiking in Griffith Park on Sunday. Maybe I will swing by!

  • Elisa Whitehead

Yay! So excited to meet you and other Angelino’s, Angelens, Angelesens? haha I’ll be bringing my little (but chubby) chocolate truffle of love (that’s her nickname) dog, Maggie!

  • I live in L.A. and I’m still loving these L.A. posts. haha It’s like I’m a tourist in my own city! xx

    Keep calm and carry lipstick.

  • Loving the patriotic vibe to your look today! This place is the cutest (said in my best US accent!).
