Party At Gatsby's

Tumblr is an enormous waste of my time.
I love it and find it hugely relaxing... but honestly it's like a black hole of procrastination.
However, once every now & then I stumble on a gem that makes it all worth while.
This Gatsby sweatshirt is one of those gems.
I had to be shipped from America so has taken forever to arrive, but now it's here I will never part with it.
It even still has that fuzzy 'new jumper' fluff on the inside. It's like running errands in a duvet.

Miss Watson met me for a coffee after a meeting with her agency and I had to 'street style' her gorgeous little outfit.

Tux is an old school blazer, silk shirt from Zara, shorts from Hollister, boots & bags by Topshop.
Sunnies by Prism.

You can find my Party At Gatsby's sweater here and if you fancy slipping into the Tumblr black hole, you can visit A Nice Little Tumblr here.

Instagram Catchup

I haven't done one of these for a little while, so a Monday seemed like a good opportunity to clean out the old Insta-Bank and start afresh.
I don't always have my SLR on me, but you know how snap happy I am.
Here are some of the adventures my iPhone and I have been on recently.

My favourite snack. The pork crackling & apple sauce at Albion in Shoreditch.
It's only £3 but honestly worth its weight in gold.

Steak supper. Hand for scale... not for dinner.

Treats.

Passionfruit & meringue pie at Mortons.

Giles looking all serious at Bens Canteen.

My nerdy new stationary!
Never underestimate the power of a thankyou letter.
I bought these at Paperchase but can't find a link anywhere. You'll have to pop into the store if you want your own.

Dinner with the gorgeous Gabby from Not So Basic Fashion.

My new Sergeant Pepper Grinder!
I bought it on Oxford Street but it's half price here, you lucky thing.

I ate this little feast all to myself.
I'm not proud of it.
Ok... maybe I'm a bit proud of it.

Alice & I went blonde!

My iPhone went vintage.
Courtesy of Amazon.

Custard & champagne. Two of my favourite things!

A little lunch spread.

Fireworks!

After partying.
Sadly these sunglasses aren't mine so I can't link to them. If you know where they're from please let me know!

All the best puddings sparkle.

A romantic dinner at Ciprianis with Miss Watson.

Followed by a little flutter at the Playboy casino.

We tried our hands at Blackjack and left £100 up!
Counting to 21 on our fingers may have given away our amateur status a little.

Some of our friends from New York have flown in to watch the Olympics.
They very kindly invited us to dinner on the boat down in Canary Wharf.

Barefoot parties are my favourite parties.

The most beautiful burrata mozzarella.
Burrata translates as 'buttered' and it's a shell of mozzarella filled with a mixture of cream and mozzarella.
Very, very naughty.

After a night of dancing, we headed to VQ for breakfast.
As far as I know it's London's only 24 hour restaurant. There's always a queue outside and the fries are to blame.

Last night we went to see Batman and got a little over excited on the way home.
I take back everything I said about Hathaway being a poor decision for Catwoman, she was sublime. Christian Bale is still my imaginary soulmate and Tom Hardy was just a dream.  I plan on watching it at least 3 more times this week.

If you fancy being friends on Instagram, you can follow me at Rosiethelondoner but I also recommend you download PicFX. It's a very cool little photo editing app that's making its way around the blogosphere like wildfire.
How was your weekend? Any cool new London or Internet based things I need to check out?

Honey Roast Peaches

This is the ultimate summer pudding.
A glorious combination of fresh peaches, buttery honey sauce topped with cool marscapone cream and toasted almonds.

To serve four hungry guests (or eight slightly more refined guests) you'll need:
4 Peaches,
Butter,
Honey,
250g Marscapone,
150ml Double cream,
1tsp Vanilla extract,
Flaked almonds

Pre-heat your oven to 180°C/350°F and slice your peaches into halves, removing the stones as you go.

Place the halves into a baking tray and top each with a little knob of butter.

Drizzle honey over the top. Be as generous as you like, but remember peaches are already quite sweet so don't go crazy.

Pop them into the oven for about 20mins. Keep an eye on them to make sure they don't burn.
While they're bubbling away, you can make your cream and toast your almonds.
In a bowl mix together your marscapone, cream & vanilla. Place to one side or in the refrigerator if you're making it ahead of time.
Heat a dry frying pan and when it's good 'n' hot, add your almonds. Flip them around the pan, taking care not to let them burn. When they're nice and brown, tip them out and leave to cool.
After 20mins your peaches should be bronzed & bubbling. Remove them from the oven & serve.

Pop a peach onto a plate, spoon some of the sauce from the pan over the top, smother in marscapone cream & sprinkle with almonds.

For a casual pudding for friends and family I recommend two halves each, for dinner party guests I think one half is probably enough and it looks more refined.

For real summer decadence, enjoy in the garden with a cold glass of champagne.

Ps. Thankyou to all of my lovely readers who nominated me for the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards, I feel so honoured! If you're a fan of my foodie posts and you're feeling friendly, you can vote for The Londoner as Best Food Blog here.
I guess I'll have to think of some spectacular foodie giveaway if I win... any ideas?

Hillbillies

Say hello to Notting Hill's newest Hillbilly, Phoebe Watson.
She's taken over my spare room and is going to live with me for a little while.
We're clearly pretty happy about it.

We spent our lunch time wandering around the area as I played tour guide.
This meant a stop off at my all time favourite jewellery store, 118 Portobello Road.

They import boho goodies from all over the world so it's a must for all vintage magpies.

I left with this gorgeous Afgan bangle.

Next stop on our whistle stop tour of The Hill was Pizza East.
It's a really relaxed, light and airy place to spend a sunny afternoon. They play the best music and the pizzas are delicious.

We went for the crispy pork belly pizza and an avocado & butter lettuce salad to share.

This pizza is outrageous.
Juicy pulled pieces of pork and the crispiest crackling with mozzarella and toasted mushrooms.
My favourite bit? The chewy, crispy crusts with little sparkles of rock salt.
Just so sexy.

Tomorrow I plan to show her more of Notting Hill's secrets.
Any little gems you think I should include?
