I've done most of my Christmas shopping online this year.
To be honest, I rarely shop in real stores anymore. I prefer to drag & drop from the comfort of my own home, big cup-a-tea, men's shirt, knee high socks... risky business style!
The only downside is that you miss out on that little Christmas tingle you get from rushing in and out of glittery stores, the bows, blustering winds and rosie cheeks.
The girls and I decided there was only one thing for it, we were going to have to get our festive fix at Covent Garden, the home of London Christmas cheer.
If a 50ft Christmas tree dripping with lights doesn't give you a little festive flutter, nothing will!
We left piled high with trinkets, stocking fillers and toys for nephews & nieces.
A thoroughly girly session that could only be followed up with a down & dirty BBQ meat feast.
We headed to Pitt Cue in Soho and gorged ourselves on ribs, pulled pork, bone marrow mash, brisket beans, rib tips and a whole lotta slaw.
Sticky fingers and warm hearts.
I've got a feeling this Christmas is going to be one of the best ever.
How's your planning coming along?
And more importantly, when is it ok to watch Elf?

It is always okay to watch Elf! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's ALWAYS ok to watch Elf!
ReplyDeleteElf - every day is appropriate.
ReplyDeleteIt's always okay to watch Elf! I've watched it about 15 times already this year... xxxxx
ReplyDeleteLove the post, I think for Elf it is totally ok from the 1st December and everyday thereafter:-)
ReplyDeleteI think I'll be watching elf tonight now my birthday is over :):) xo
ReplyDeleteoh my, I just love Christmas! My plan is to venture out next Saturday (the 1st) buy the tree, then sit down with a nice big cuppa and watch Elf! Sorted!
ReplyDeleteSuzi x
Sounds like an excellent plan! x
DeleteI'm in two minds whether it's acceptable yet, but me and the boy are planning on having a cosy film day tomorrow and Elf is on the agenda! The bigger question is how to convince him to do the Buddy/Jovie 'Baby it's cold outside' duet with me....xx
ReplyDeleteBribery & sexual favours! ;)
DeleteI'm in Melbourne for Christmas this year, seeing all the decorations everywhere doesn't feel quite the same in 25 degree heat! Looking forward to it nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteOhhh I'm jealous Frances!
DeleteTHERE TIME ALL YEAR ROUND TO WATCH ELF!! best film ever!
ReplyDeleteLooks like great fun! Well done for being productive and actually buying pressies too! X
ReplyDeleteI think it's appropriate to start watching elf in September haha but for people who may not share my same affinity for elf culture, start now before it's too late! Meg x
ReplyDeleteI've never commented, despite reading your blog for ages, but I just wanted to tell you how much I love it and you!! On my bad days (like today) I live vicariously through you :) You look like you have so much fun!! Happy holidays!
ReplyDeleteThankyou Shay! I hope the rest of your day cheered up a bit x
DeleteWhere did you buy your jacket? Love it :)
ReplyDeleteZara x
DeleteLovely post! I love Covent Garden, even more at Christmas. That tree is gorgeous! Last year, precisely at Christmas, I started a new little tradition of my own: every time I visit London I buy a pair of shoes in Covent Graden's Aldo.
ReplyDeleteGreat tradition!
DeleteI may have already watched Elf...... Love, Actually is next on the list! ;)
ReplyDeleteI wish there was a covent garden near me. There doesn't seem to be any real OTT Christmas cheer around here :(
I watched The Holiday the other day, just warming up to elf and love actually!
DeleteReading this post has further strengthened my desire for a white Christmas (though a hot Australian xmas isn't all bad!)
ReplyDeleteLove your blog Rosie!
x Taryn
Love your coat Rosie! Where is it from?
ReplyDeleteZara x
DeleteIf you haven't watched Elf yet thus year I'd say no time like the present! ;)
ReplyDeleteWould be lost without this blog. Is it wrong that I stalk it?! Will forever be my guide to all things. Rose, you are a total legend. Thank you for taking up your own time to help those less awesome than you. I wish I had a best friend like you!!! x
ReplyDeleteYou're so sweet Suzie, thankyou! x
DeleteCannot express how much I can relate to the love of Elf, I reckon it's good to watch it when you first have that Christmas feeling, you know when you go, 'Oh!, it's beginning to feel like Christmas!' and your heart skips a beat.
ReplyDeleteLoving your blog,
Eva x
Super cute! I like how they have steered away from the blue LED lights that so many places are draped with. Just wondering if in the future you could do a post on top 10 places to eat in London (or something along those lines). Lovely post as always!!
ReplyDeletexo Lisa
Hey Lisa, click on the "London" link under my main title! x
DeleteBabe, I've already watched Elf twice already...watch it soon before the Christmas spirit starts to slip! 'The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.'
ReplyDeleteLittleGlitter.org
Christmas ADDICT!
DeleteI'm watching Love Actually tonight. IT'S TIME.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your coat in this picture and your friends are gorgeous. Looks like a lovely day out.
ReplyDeleteCould you please tell us (if you don't mind and I'm not being too nosey) the brand of your BB cream?
I noticed that quite a few readers having been asking recently and I'd love to know too! Please don't think it's too creepy that we all want to look like you (lol), take it as a compliment.
Mimi
I ordered pretty much everytthing online, too - but going to London next week to get some Christmas feeling and find some mooore presents :)
ReplyDeleteLooks really fun- you really can't beat a massive tree for instilling the festive feeling. All the shops in Covent Garden have 20% off for their Christmas shopping event next Thursday and London Gospel Choir are singing - they're my favourites! x
ReplyDeleteP.S. I reckon it's OK to watch Elf... we have a rule that mulled wine can come out after Bonfire night so the same shhould apply for Christmas movies?
This christmas tree is insane!!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI haven't even started my christmas shopping yet! I'm seriously the queen of procrastination.
xo Andrea
Wonderful and Marvelous
Thanksgiving was yesterday in The States, so it's officially the Christmas season! Elf and hot chocolate and Christmas music from here on out!
ReplyDeleteIt's always ok to watch elf! The ribs look delish!

ReplyDeleteKings Road & Oxford Street x
DeleteThanks, but I was thinking places without that kind of crowd? Or do you want to keep those to your self?
DeleteOh how I loveee christmas!
ReplyDeleteChristmas shopping is great fun as long as you don't leave it til Christmas eve (very stressful..not fun at all) Haha, Covent Garden looks lovely!

I'm sure you probably know this because I'm always in envy of all the events/restaurants you know about in London - you are my source of going out inspiration! To the point - there's a 20% off event going on in Covent Garden tomorrow night, another good excuse to go! I have details over at my blog: http://areyouhavingagiraffe.blogspot.co.uk/ It's rather new as well so I would love it if you checked it out :)
