Bodo's Schloss

If you follow me on Instagram then you will already be aware that I have a bit of a love affair with Bodo's Schloss, the new alpine themed restaurant/nightclub in Kensington.
It's been open for just over a month and the girls & I have been every week without fail...

Despite my apparent obsession, I've never actually blogged about it.
I decided it was high time I stopped being selfish and let you in on one of my favourite haunts.
So last night I grabbed my camera, wriggled my feet into towering black heels & headed out to dinner.

The restaurant is deliciously snug. You sit around wooden tables with checkered tablecloths, surrounded by skiing memorabilia & old Austrian signs.

The menu is packed with good old fashioned Alpine goodies. Schnitzel, dumplings, steak, chips & mayonaise.
Nothing fancy or fussy, just good hearty cooking.

This place isn't grown up.

Which is lucky because we aren't either!

It's a loud, buzzy restaurant. Everyone is enormously... jolly.
Every table is a birthday or party, boys drink huge steins of beer and glamorous, giggling girls sip champagne.
The music is fabulously cheesy and rather than relaxing with an espresso or a mint tea after dinner, you'll order a shot-ski!

A gorgeous lederhosen clad waitress will wiggle over to your table with an old wooden ski filled with shots.

If you're feeling particularly naughty you can order a Bodo's Bobsleigh.

But things tend to go downhill pretty rapidly with a Bobsleigh...

After dinner the tables are whipped away, the music's turned up and the place fills with dancers.
As a club it's relaxed, fun, and doesn't take itself too seriously.
Music ranges from The Twist to Rhianna & Gangnam Style. The dancefloor is filled with all ages & all types of people. Royals, rockstars, models, actresses, and nobodies like us.

If you're looking a fun night out in London I can't recommend Bodos enough.
Find them here.

  6. This is like merging the best of two worlds - afterski without having to endure bruises and frozen toes, and comfortable city life just outside the door!

Hiya Rose, just out of curiosity, what's it like price wise? are drinks silly west end prices? or do you not have to really worry?

and is it worth going for the food? or just head there for some late dancing?

    cheers

  9. Hi Rose,

I was wondering if I could ask some advice. I am starting to feel really depressed about my weight. I need to loose about 10 pounds and if I follow the anti diet how long do you think that would take??
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and reply if you do! I admire you so much, you look great. What do you do for workouts??

    xx

  11. It's so funny, I've noticed in nearly all your nightclub posts there's always a big ol' bucket of booze that can be ordered. Maybe I'm just outta the loop but I've never seen that here in the States, not even in Vegas (where you certainly would expect cocktails to be shared like that haha)! I think I'm just going to start doing this on girls' nights, book clubs, etc......who needs glasses when you've got a pack of straws! Love it!

Also - the napkin photo reminds me of the film The Holiday? And Phoebe's new hair colour looks great! x

Hi all... Wondering if any of The Londoners followers, or perhaps The Londoner herself, could offer some advice - Looking for somewhere new to have a fun but pretty causal dinner/drinks with a friend on a Saturday night, ideally on or as close as possible to Fulham Road?? Suggestions (from anyone!) would be hugely appreciated - & Rose, you're looking silly amounts of gorgeous as usual! xxx

  29. oh i KNEW you'd love this club! AA Gill had it right though -- "The Blonde and I took Elizabeth Hurley, who loved it. She liked the fact that all the staff were really pretty and wearing lederhosen. She also liked the fact that it was full of people plainly having the time of their lives. I’d quite forgotten how enthusiastic young Euros and public-school entrepreneurs are about having fun. The noise level was cacophonous, with the hysterical yodelling happiness of the floppy and pouting playing competitive hilarity. There were tables of birthday parties, all singing, cake and speeches, and synchronised blowing champagne down your nose. I think that Hoorays actually live in labrador years and have seven birthdays every 12 months, which might explain why they all start off looking like Pippa Middleton, and the next time you turn around, they look like Camilla Parker Bowles."

WOW! I had a look at their website and their menus, and you've spent my month worth of rent money on a shotski and a bobsleigh. That is without the food. Pretty amazing, if you ask me! I suppose that we all live the lives we are capable of getting. But then again, I guess the money for the drinks was divided between the people on the table. Looks like a lovely place, but the prices really threw me off the balance.

A.A Gill has it about right (love that man).
My review: The design is nice, outfits are cool too. Door staff win the award for most obnoxious in London. Music is pretty awful and the current crowd, 28yr-40 yr old euros hoping to hop on the new cool thing, with a smattering of local west Londoners is pretty cringe. Just a heads up. Im gonna try http://houseofwolf.co.uk/ for something a bit different.
p.s still loving the blog + tumblr.

No, Anon, Phoebe really doesn't need to do anything with her eyebrows. They are beautiful as they are and make her face so cute and interesting. Why do you think everyone should look all fake and samey?

Hello Rose - Quick question. In the last picture I am curious about your top (actually am curious about all you tops :)) and how is it so form fitting? do you tape your tops are are they perfectly fitted to your body shape?

You're beautiful and love reading about your adventures! thanks!

DON'T GO THERE!!!!! I was there last night with a friend and i got manhandled out of the club for sitting on the stairs to text my friend. They didn't even allow me to collect my own coat even though it was -3 outside!!!That manager has some serious issue, so don't go there until they fire him , it's not worth the aggravation
