#Ribstock

There are very few events on my calendar that warrant the use of coloured Sharpie pens, gold stars & a countdown.
But "Tweat-Ups" aren't just any old events!
You might remember the UK Chilli Cook-Off I blogged about a few months ago?
Well, this is the BBQ version.
Ribstock saw 10 of London's meatiest restaurants battling it out to be voted Baron of the BBQ, King of the Charcoal, Regent of the Ribs... you get the idea.
Armed with a score card, an umbrella & some wet wipes, we worked our way around Soho square, gorging ourselves on succulent, melt in your mouth, beautifully decadent ribs & pulled pork buns.

We started with The Ribman's amazing rib rolls.
These have an almost legendary status on the London street food scene & his "Holy F*ck" sauces are just mind blowing!

Barbecoa went a little bit fancy pants with their offering.
A beautifully sticky sauce, topped with fresh chillies, chives & corriander.

Delicious.

This was Lucky-Chip's offering (and my personal favourite).
Intensely rich & smokey with layers of fat & meat that just fell off the bone.

If you fancy coming to the next Tweat-Up (and you really should!), follow them on Twitter & keep an eye on their announcements.
The events always sell out devastatingly quickly & there were people standing on the gate willing to sell their kidneys (or ribs) to get in.
One piece of advice, if you come to the next one... wear your eatin' pants! This ain't no place for skinny jeans!

Ps. If you now have a hankering for ribs & all things comforting, give my impossibly easy rib bun recipe a try. You'll have your own little Ribstock in no time!

  28. Heaven on a bone! Had the pleasure of trying Barbecoa's baby back ribs when I was visiting London a fortnight ago, and they were as delicious as they look in your pics. Loved the sticky sauce with just the right amount of zing. I wonder if we have a Ribstock here in Oz? If we don't, we damn well should!!
