Dear 16 Year Old Me...

This is a bit of an unusal post for me, but I really think you should watch this video, whatever your age.

So many of my friends use tanning beds.
Just once a week or even once in a while, but it only takes one burn to ruin your life.
Is it really worth it?
I'm sharing this with you because it shocked me & may have caused a little tear or two...
Please share it with your friends, you never know the difference it could make.

  3. Really powerful message! I love being tanned but I gave up sunbeds a few years ago because I realised it wasn't worth the risk. Much better to fake a tan instead.

  4. What a touching video! Silly girls just don't realise how bad sunbeds are, it aggravates me so much, in my town its "cool" to be tanned. After watching my mum go through cancer I promised to never ever have a sunbed again. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Really strong video, that so many women and men should watch, maybe then they would think about how they could and already have damaged their bodies.

  6. Ha! I'm freaking pale as hell and I use an umbrella in summer. Everyone always tells me "Girl, you need to get tan!" I always need to tell them that being too long in the sun or using sunbeds is stupid and unhealthy as hell. I wonder who even invented this trend? Most of the people don't believe me and think I'm a freak always sitting in the shadow. My own family even encourages the younger family members to get a tan when sun is shining. My cousin is 13 and I was at the swimming pool with her this summer, she didn't want to put sunscreen on and why? Because being tan is beautiful. Then she asked me why she should, bust with an ugly attitude. I told her, that I'll tell her "Because of that" when she is older and has skin cancer. Sometimes I don't understand this world. Omg . . . this topic always makes me rage.

  8. This is a great post and I have already shared on Facebook and will encourage my friends to do the same. In my early 20's I was very guilty of using sun beds - my excuse.....we don't get much sun in Scotland! I ended up having a lump removed from the back of my neck, fortunately for me it was nothing serious - that was just down to luck.

    Life is too precious x

  9. I'm also a guilty sunbed user. Not religiously, but I do use them whenever I am about to go on holiday for a "starter tan" lol and although this is a wonderful message, I feel that most people who do use would not give it up (I'm making it sound like a drug - but it is truly addictive) and I wont give it up either. I hate fake tan, everything about it, and I hate being pale in the summer. I know it is silly but there is just such pressure on girls to be have perfect skin. Its so sad.
Thanks for sharing this Rose :)

  10. So bad :( I have avoided tanning for a year…Then went for a holiday to the Maldives 2 weeks ago, and started all over again…After frying my skin for hours I have finally achieved my bronzed tan I have soo missed. When got back I did not want the tan to fade so I bought sun bed course. Now, after I saw it, I think I am gonna stop…Doesn’t worth it :(
    Thank you Rose, XOXO

  14. This video alone has changed my thoughts in an instance! I never knew about this, and more people need to know.
I went on a sunbed yesterday, and burnt my thighs pretty bad. (It was for literally 5 minutes, but I was an idiot and didn't check out the strength of it) Now, I am sat here checking my skin over to make sure there isn't any changes or new moles.
I will NEVER go on one again, for the price of two sunbeds, I can buy a bottle of fake tan and it will most likely last longer. The effects of sunbed are too dangerous.
Thank you for posting this hun :)

  15. THANK YOU for posting this video! So many girls out there think tanning is no big deal... I used to tan but now I don't. I admit that some days I really want to, but I remember sitting in the doctor's office and having biopsies done on three moles... waiting for the results... two of three came back pre-cancerous. It is so not worth it!

  16. That made me cry as well! I naturally have olive tanned skin, but I still wear sun screen whenever in the sun. Alot of my girlfriends hardly wear sunscreen because they think it won't make you tan. I still wear it, and apply and apply every few hours and I can still tan. I think spray tans are the way to go for most women. So much more better for your skin.

  17. Am sharing this with my friends. Never used a sunbed myself and only had a tan once in my life (holiday in spain when 11) but a lot of my friends use the beds a lot. Letting them know the dangers is important. Thanks for the link.
