Hereford Road

Last night The Boy & I went for supper at Hereford Road, the home of former St John's head chef, Tom Pemberton.
It's gotten rave reviews in The Times, The Telegraph, The Gardian, Time Out etc... but we were left a little non plussed.
A pretty, Parisian entrance greets you as you walk through the door and sullen chefs eye you suspiciously from the kitchen on the left.
All the food is seasonal and you're presented with Today's Menu, which is rather exciting. It's quite nice to know that you're trying something different to those before you or those who'll come after. Almost like a secret, shared only with you.
Terminally indecisive, we decided to ask for all the starters and skip the mains entirely.
With a raised eyebrow the waiter conceded to take our rather unusual order to the kitchen.
What came back was a little roller coaster of food emotions!
Some of the dishes were incredible, well cooked, simple & elegant (particularly the quail). Others were dreary, the asparagus for example is the most expensive dish on the menu & we were amazed at how genuinely poor it was, over cooked and badly presented.
All in all, the food was good. Not exceptional, but good.
For pudding we had very pretty rice pudding & eye wateringly tart lemon sorbet.
On the whole it was a nice atmosphere but didn't quite live up to the hype.
St John Bread & Wine in Shoreditch remains one of my favourite restaurants, and I'm a little disappointed not to have stumbled upon the West London version.

No glamourous or exciting weekend outfit posts, I'm afraid.
Just a very relaxed Sunday at home.

Happy Monday!

Birthday Pup

It was Custard's 2nd Birthday yesterday, so I thought I'd treat him to his favourite... a cup of tea.

What a gent.

Fish Supper

One of my favourite London haunts is the Nobu on Berkley Square.
There's always such a fantastic buzz, business men sealing deals, friends celebrating birthdays, 1st date jitters.
It seems so deliciously decadent to slip in for supper at the bar, wearing just jeans & a tshirt.
I always order too much food, but how can you not?! Everything just sounds so delicious.
Next time you go, you have to try the toro tartar with caviar, the seafood cevice, the black cod (obviously) and wash it all down with Kyoho Queen cocktails.

Confession

I have a confession to make.

It's a biggie... but I think I'm finally ready to come clean.

I have an obsession.

With stripes.

Bold or thin, red, white, blue or black. The chances are if it's stripy, I want it.

It drives my friends mad! My predictable 'ooo's and fondling of striped jumpers and nautical blazers while shopping. They roll their eyes and lead me away.

I'm allowing myself just one, utterly indulgent post...dedicated exclusively to... stripes!

There are worse things to addicted to, right?

A thoroughly British pastime...

Picnicking.

Vintage Rose

Summer is finaly here!
At last it's warm enough to wear little dresses and dance the night away in killer heels.
Last night we headed to Whisky Mist & Tramp in London's West End.
I only just had time to take a little outfit update snap so here it is...

Hidden Animal Teacups

I think that these are absolutely adorable.
Hidden animal teacups by Ange-line tetrault.
When I was a little girl, my mother had a teacup with a porcelain snail in the bottom.
No matter how many times she brought it out, shrieks of laughter would fill the kitchen as my little brother and I feigned shock & horror at the creature in our milk.

If I could work out the website I would buy a set in a heartbeat!

Loafers & Boaters

A couple days ago I was invited to Tommy Hilfiger's 'Prep World' in Covent Garden.
A pop up shop in the middle of the piazza bursting at the seams with nautical stripes, bright chinos and pretty little dresses.

My beautiful friend & fashion writer, Cleo.

The launch was a huge success and the little picket fenced haven will only stick around for 10days before being packed off to Milan.
Catch them while you can.
