When I was a little girl, my mother had a teacup with a porcelain snail in the bottom.
No matter how many times she brought it out, shrieks of laughter would fill the kitchen as my little brother and I feigned shock & horror at the creature in our milk.
If I could work out the website I would buy a set in a heartbeat!

ReplyDeleteAaah! I knew I'd seen these teacups somewhere before! I saw one at a local market last weekend for pennies, I should have snapped it up!!
ReplyDeleteI was about eight years old and being babysat by my mum's boyfriend. He made me a hot drink and watched me drink it, trying to make small talk. As I drank, what I thought was a lump of chewed up chewing gum appeared in the bottom of the cup and I sat there disgusted but too shy to say anything. He finally laughed, took the cup and poured away the drink to reveal the tortoise. Relief.
